Donald Excell, 49, struck Rita Lambourne at least four times with an axe inside her Bexhill home on February 12. He was captured on CCTV approaching her house at night. Police found the weapon in a lake weeks later after teenage boys discovered a rucksack with clothing and an axe sheath.
